Tech Talk Thursday
Week 1: 02/06/25
The meeting discussed creating a new platform for the Rainbow community, with a focus on communication, community, and avoiding commercialization. Several participants expressed concerns about data mining and the potential for any private owner taking unfair or corrupt actions. Some suggested using existing platforms like Discord or BuddyBoss, while others discussed desired features like audio/video sharing and dashboards. The importance of accessibility on all devices was also noted.
Recurring themes included the desire for a platform that prioritizes community and harmony over commercial interests. Participants emphasized the need for effective communication, arguing and discussing ideas without quarreling. Some highlighted the importance of focusing on intent, peace, and healing, while others noted that text-based platforms often devolve into arguing. Many emphasized the need for a platform that allows for effective communication with family, and several pointed out that if you don't pay for a platform, you become the product. Gratitude was expressed for the idea of a free, non-commercialized platform, emphasizing the importance of community and harmony.
The meeting also touched on the challenges of transitioning to a new platform, with some participants expressing concerns about learning curves and technical difficulties, and others noting a platform very similar to facebook like BuddyBoss or Peepso would reduce the learning curve. It was noted that Discord's terms of service were a concern, and others shared their own difficulties with getting Discord to work on their computer. Despite these challenges, the meeting reflected a strong desire for a platform that supports the Rainbow community's unique needs and values. As one person put it, "It's important that we do this," while emphasizing the importance of staying true to the community's values and reinventing what it means to be family.

hello all - to much to babble about on mike so just put what we wanted to say here -this is what we have done-https://www.welcome-home.org/ - the site is paid for 3 years , the domain name welcome-home.org is paid for 5 years - which means no adds for that time length - we have set it up so no one has to register unless they choose , information and chat rooms can be accessed regardless of registration - anyone can add info by sending it to the email or posting in the open forum , anyone can upload files - the only down side is if it grows to big , the storage space has to be upgraded for a fee , next tier atm we are at the seconded tier of 4 , the site its self can use plug ins , html , etc etc … we also have an up graded google cloud storage for the file storage , as well as a dedicated you tube channel for videos - all the seo tags are set up ,though we may change some of them depending on which have hits and which don't , its already sent / set up with google search engines.
